Arson Reduction

Arson is a crime that has far reaching impacts on our communities, ecology and environment of County Durham and the Borough of Darlington.

Arson and deliberate fire setting is not as ‘victimless’ as many people may see it, it places lives at risk, takes away business opportunities and drives families from housing estates.

Research has shown that 85% of businesses that suffer an arson of deliberate fire setting incident fail to recover and lead to the workforce losing their jobs.

The good news is that the steps we can take to reduce the potential for arson and deliberate fire setting are relatively easy and cheap to do, let’s look at some of the things we can do to make our homes and businesses safer from deliberate fires.
