What Is A Local Resilience Forum?
The Local Resilience Forum (LRF) brings together emergency services, local authorities, health organisations, utilities, and other key partners to help communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. The LRF works to identify and assess the risks that could affect the local area and publishes this information through the Community Risk Register, which can be found on our Community Resilience page. Partners work together to plan for emergencies, improve joint working, and ensure that services can continue to operate during incidents. The LRF also helps organisations develop shared plans and agreements, coordinate training and exercising, and improve information sharing between partners. In addition it supports arrangements to keep the public informed about risks and what they can do to stay safe, before, during and after an emergency. The LRF strengthens local resilience and ensures that organisations are better prepared to protect communities when incidents occur.
Who Makes Up An LRF?
An LRF is made up of different people, these include category 1, category 2 and other agencies.
Category 1 agencies are those such as : Police, Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue, Hospitals, Hospital trusts, Transport Police, Environment Agency, Counter Terrorism Police, Local Authority, Coastguard and UK Health Security Agency.
Category 2 agencies include : Utility companies including gas, electricity and water. Rail and train operators, airports, Health and Safety Executives, harbour and ports.
Others : These include voluntary organisations, faith groups, APHA, food standard agencies, HM Prison Service, Ministry of Housing,Communities and Local Government (Government), Ministry Of Defence and housing providers.
Our Aim 🎯
County Durham and Darlington Local Resilience Forum (CDDLRF) sit at the core of County Durham and Darlington’s local civil protection arrangements. Its overall purpose is to ensure that there is an appropriate level of preparedness, within available resources, to enable an effective multi-agency response to emergencies which may have a significant impact on the communities of County Durham and Darlington.
