Fire Escape Plan
- Make an escape plan so everyone in the home knows what to if the smoke alarm goes off, either during the day or at night.
- If you live with others, talk about what route you could take out of the house.
- Make sure you have a few options and practice them.
- Decide on a meeting point when everyone is out of the house, make sure children know not to hide.
Bedtime Checklist
- Close internal doors at night to prevent the spread of smoke or a fire.
- Keep your exits and stairwells clear.
- Always know where your keys are kept.
- Have access to a phone in your bedroom – just don’t charge it overnight!
- Turn off electrical appliances and unplug them where you can.
- Make sure your oven and hob is switched off.
- Don’t leave your washer or tumble dryer on overnight.
