Retired CDDFRS Station Manager Alan Gibson, has been awarded a BEM in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours.

We are extremely proud to announce retired CDDFRS Station Manager Alan Gibson, has been awarded a BEM in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours. 

Alan, who has continued to work closely with the service for many years, was honoured for his tireless work for The Fire Fighters Charity and the community and we wish to pass on our warmest congratulations.

Alan, of Burnhope, who has been involved with the charity for over 40 years, said: “I am delighted to receive the British Empire Medal, my ethos has been to raise money and help others whilst having fun. Over the years I have worked with several great teams of caring hard working and dedicated people.”

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Sarah Nattrass, commented: "Alan is a tremendous ambassador for the Fire Fighters Charity here in County Durham and Darlington and the region. Working for the charity for over 40 years shows his dedication and his enthusiasm shines through as he continues to promote our safety messages whilst raising money for this extremely worthwhile cause."
