Did you know? Around 5 accidental house fires a day are started by smoking.
Smoking related fires can start easily, so stay safe with these quick tips:
- Smoke outside when possible.
- Never smoke or allow anyone else to smoke in the same room as oxygen equipment or an air flow mattress.
- Never smoke when drowsy, including after taking medication, other drugs or consuming alcohol.
- Keep lighters/matches away from children and young people.
- Use sturdy ashtrays and fully stub out cigarettes.
- Add water to ashtrays and empty them safely.
- Never smoke where you sleep.
- Choose fire-safe cigarettes if available.
Quitting is the safest option.

Vaping

- Don't use fake, damaged, or modified devices.
- Vape liquids can be toxic - handle with care.
- Always dispose of vapes at a vape recycling point - never in your household bin. Recycling points can be found in shops that sell vapes.
