Local Remediation

North East Local Remediation Acceleration Plan.

The Government has a National Remediation Acceleration Plan, to make buildings with unsafe cladding safe. The plan focuses on residential buildings over 11 metres in height and aims to speed up inspections, funding decisions and repair work, while supporting residents throughout the process.

In the North East, the North East Combined Authority has its own Local Remediation Acceleration Plan (LRAP) which brings together councils, fire and rescue services, and government partners. The local plan helps organisations work together, share information, and remove barriers that are slowing down remediation.

If you are worried about building safety in your home, or want to understand what support may be available, you should contact your building owner or managing agent first. You can also speak to your local council for advice and signposting. More information about the Government’s approach to cladding remediation is available on GOV.UK, and updates on the North East plan can be found on the North East Combined Authority website.
