Congratulations to Station Manager Craig Jewkes who received a certificate of appreciation for his fire investigation work and valuable assistance to three Crown Court trials, which resulted in the conviction of 4 offenders for arson and other offences.
At a time where the successful conviction rate for arson at a Crown Court trial is less than 2% in England and Wales, Craig's fire scene examination provided vital support for Durham Constabulary investigations for three fire incidents and helped charge four suspects with Arson and other offences.
Chief Fire Officer Steve Helps, who presented Craig with the certificate earlier today commented, “I would like to commend Craig for his dedication, professionalism, and attention-to-detail in the examination of the incidents, and the content of his scene examination documentation that enabled the Crown Court Juries to return a guilty verdict of arson on the four suspects. I am immensely proud, well done.”
