Competition Terms & Conditions

Firefighter for the Day (Ages 5–17) and £100 Amazon Voucher (No Age Limit)

1. Eligibility

The Firefighter for the Day experience is open to UK residents aged 5–17 at the time of entry. Parents/carers/family can enter the competition on behalf of a child. Entrants under 18 must have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter and participate. Employees, contractors, and agents of CDDFRS may enter the competition. Only one entry per child is permitted for the Firefighter for the Day experience, and parents or guardians may submit entries on behalf of a child. Proof of age, identity, and residence may be required.

The £100 Amazon voucher competition is open to all UK residents aged 18 and over, with no upper age limit. Multiple adults within a household may enter. Entrants may enter both competitions, as long as they meet the age criteria for each.

2. How to Enter

Entries open on 18 February 2026 and close on 13 May 2026. To enter either or both competitions, participants must complete the CDDFRS CRMP consultation survey, either online via SmartSurvey or using a paper copy, and select which competition(s) they wish to enter.

3. Prize Descriptions

The Firefighter for the Day prize consists of a supervised experience at a mutually agreed wholetime fire station for the winning child, one accompanying child friend, and their parent or guardian. The experience will last approximately two to four hours. Activities may include a station and appliance tour, meeting crews and learning about fire safety, trying on clean and non-operational protective clothing where safe and appropriately sized, and taking part in demonstrations such as hose handling and equipment familiarisation. Activities involving live incidents, emergency response riding, breathing apparatus, cutting equipment, ladders, heights, hazardous environments, or any other unsafe or unsuitable scenarios are strictly excluded. CDDFRS may amend activities for safety, operational, or weather-related reasons. The prize is non-transferable and has no cash alternative.

The £100 Amazon prize consists of a single £100 Amazon voucher. The voucher is non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and is subject to Amazon’s standard terms of use.

4. Winner Selection and Notification

Winners for both competitions will be selected at random from all eligible entries after the consultation closes. Winners will be contacted by email or phone on the day of selection. Firefighter for the Day winners and their parents or guardians must respond within four working days and may be required to complete consent, safeguarding, and medical forms. If a winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, or does not respond, CDDFRS may select a reserve winner.

5. Safeguarding, Supervision and Conduct (Firefighter Experience Only)

A parent or guardian must accompany the child for the duration of the Firefighter for the Day experience. All activities will be supervised by trained CDDFRS staff, and participants must follow instructions at all times. CDDFRS reserves the right to refuse participation or end activities early if behaviour, attire, health, or other factors pose a risk. Safeguarding policies will be followed, and appropriate staff checks carried out where required.

6. Health, Safety and Medical (Firefighter Experience Only)

Parents or guardians must disclose any relevant medical conditions, including but not limited to asthma, epilepsy, or injuries. Suitable clothing and closed-toe footwear must be worn. The experience will begin with a safety briefing, and the parent or guardian remains responsible for supervising the child throughout.

7. Accessibility

CDDFRS aims to make the experience accessible. Participants are encouraged to contact comms@ddfire.gov.uk in advance to discuss any accessibility needs. Some areas or equipment may remain inaccessible due to safety requirements or station layout.

8. Travel, Expenses and Timing

Travel, meals, accommodation, and personal expenses are not included in either prize. Winners are responsible for arriving on time at the agreed location. Failure to attend or late arrival may result in forfeiture of the prize.

9. Operational Disruption and Cancellation (Firefighter Experience Only)

Fire and Rescue operational demands take priority, meaning the Firefighter for the Day experience may be postponed at short notice. If CDDFRS cancels the experience, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule within one month. No cash alternative will be offered.

10. Publicity and Content

Winners may be invited to take part in publicity, including photographs, video, and reference to their name, age range, or hometown. Publicity involving individuals under 18 will only take place with explicit parental or guardian consent, which may be withdrawn at any time.
