CDDFRS has today become the first organisation in the North East to pledge their support to terminally ill employees.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Stuart Errington signed up the TUC’s ‘Dying to work’ campaign which means CDDFRS have pledged to protect and support employees following the diagnosis of a terminal illness.
CFO Errington said: “I’m really proud to be the first employer in the north east to sign up to this voluntary charter. It’s so important that anyone suffering a terminal illness has the peace of mind to know that their place of work is behind them 100% at the most difficult time.”
“The wellbeing of our team here at CDDFRS is at the heart of everything we do and as Chief Fire Officer I am able to give my full support to this campaign.”
