Work Experience

We accept young people on work experience placements. For legal and insurance purposes the allocation of places for work experience is the sole responsibility of the County Durham Business and Learning Partnership (CDBLP).

Placements take place twice a year, usually in July and December. Four pupils can attend each block. We will therefore accommodate eight pupils per school year.

The one week placement will mainly be based on a 'carousel system' where each pupil will spend a morning/afternoon in one particular section of the organisation and then move on to another.

There is a structured approach to the placement to ensure that the student and the Fire Service derive joint benefit from the placement. Students will receive an induction and project file in which to record information and achievements. A mentor will always be identified to ensure that the student receives all the support they require whilst on their placement.

To apply visit the County Durham Business & Learning Partnership website or telephone 01740 655 616.
